In general, a delay-effect-unit stores a copy of the original signal and then plays it back at predetermined intervals.
The resulting harmonic structure is reinforced by playing two recorders at the same time. The delay-effect is used in this cycle, not only with different recorders, but also in various lengths, causing different results: Whereas a short time delay for example creates either a lush full sound etc., a very long delay time allows you to solo completely over yourself. Finally, overlapping polyrhythms, resulting from an extensive use of strong tongue-accents turn the recorder into a complete rhythm section, combining melody, harmony and rhythm.
